Welcome to the (easy) Curl Truth Lifestyle!

Follow these Four Easy Steps to Prepare Your Hair

We thank you for choosing our salon and making your first appointment.

You chose us to take care of your curls because we are not a traditional salon. So before your first visit with our curl specialist, there’s a little bit of non-traditional prep work that we would like to ask you to do. This is to ensure you reap the benefits of having your hair cut curl by curl.

  • Either on the day before or on the day of your appointment, wash your hair with a sulphate free cleanser.
  • After washing, apply conditioner to detangle and condition your hair. This time, leave all of it in to reduce the frizz. Or, if the frizz does not bother you, partially rinse out the conditioner.
  • Do not apply any other product(s) to your hair.
  • Then just make sure that your hair is 100% dry and detangled on arrival at the salon.

If you have finer or wavier hair, you can partially rinse out the conditioner if it feels better. If you have Afro-Caribbean curls, you can apply more conditioner and use this to style your curls.

How to Get the Best Results out of Your First Curly Cut

Curl Truth definitely does not recommend that you style your hair with oils, gels, butter, or hair spray. Using such products will make hair clump or stick together. If hair is not pliant, this could cause you pain when we work on the strands.

Curl Truth also does not recommend wearing your hair in a ponytail or bun as this will distort the curls. We need to be able to see your real curl pattern to ensure that you get the best results.

Note that for best results, it’s essential that you correctly prep your hair as per the above 4 steps prior to your appointment. In some cases, you might find frizz occurring even after religiously following our instructions. This is not cause for concern. Frizz actually helps us to see and identify your curls in their most natural form. Please still come in for your appointment as scheduled.

Curl Truth appreciates that you have taken the time to prep for your appointment. Your hair will love you for it, and so will your stylist.

We look forward to seeing you at our salon.
